WEBSITES, WEBSITES, WEBSITES . . . Everyone needs a GOOD ONE, and I can do that for YOU!
Hello, my name is Laura Dean, and I am Runjik Productions.
The most recent of my long-term experience in marketing and public relations, came as a marketing director for an outdoor history museum and archaeological site. During my six years there, the museum saw a marked increase in attendance and overall community awareness. I created and implemented new programs and technical upgrades. Early in 2013, I embarked on a new path in order to further hone my skills, acquire fresh technical knowledge, and meet exciting new people.
I first started designing websites back in the late 1990s and today, at 20 sites and counting, WordPress websites are what I excel at and enjoy the most. I also provide marketing and promotional graphic design, mostly for non-profits, and my beloved actor friends. Recently, I’ve been named Executive Director of a fantastic non-profit, Trail of Florida’s Indian Heritage, but I will still have time for building websites and more.
If you need a business, actor portfolio, or non-profit website, I'd love to hear from you.

My websites for history, archaeology, and preservation organizations
My newest project is the redesign of the website for this amazing organization. I am honored to be the Executive Director, and look forward to assisting the Trail's members with promotion of their sites and activities. The Trail of Florida’s Indian Heritage, Inc. (TOFIH) is a Florida nonprofit membership network of archaeological sites, history museums, heritage interpreters and county, state, and national parks working together with the mission: To promote responsible site visitation and public education of Florida’s Indian heritage.
As a nearly lifelong avocational archaeologist, I was thrilled to be contracted in 2016 to manage and design the website of the Florida Anthropological Society (FAS) and its chapters. My goal for 2018 is to redesign the site and provide social media support to FAS and the chapters in order to further educate the public about Florida’s past.
In the early 1990s, I was a two term president of this active chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society. Today, I am thrilled to design and maintain the website for Time Sifters Archaeology Society (TSAS). Founded in 1986, TSAS has provided excavation and research support to professional archaeologists and area colleges, and has significantly contributed to the preservation of the archaeological resources of the Sarasota County, Florida area. Time Sifters is a non-profit association of professional and amateur archaeologists, plus interested citizens. They hold monthly meetings with guest speakers on diverse topics, which are free and open to the public.
Heritage Matters is a website for history and archaeological presentations, and to support the documentary, “Escampaba ~The Kingdom of Carlos”. Filmed on location at Mound Key and St. Augustine, the documentary was written and produced by archaeologist, Theresa Schober. It recreates the unique and significant role southwest Florida played in the early days of the settling of the New World. Bringing the past to life with re-enactments, animations, archival photographs and environmental footage, it recreates a forgotten piece of American history. I was delighted to make this website for my dear friend Theresa, and will also be helping to publicise the film when it debuts on PBS in 2018.
I am the Secretary of the History & Preservation Coalition of Sarasota County (HPCsc), a collaborative organization designed as a supporting body for the dozens of history and preservation based groups in Sarasota County, Florida. I’ve held this office since February 2007. Along with the duties of secretary, I provide marketing advice for the members, as well as graphic and web design as needed. Our meeting minutes are in the form of a colorful newsletter. In 2021, HPCsc will present a year-long county-wide celebration of the centennial of the creation of Sarasota County.
I assist the Friends of Sarasota County History Center (FOSCHC) in many ways. I designed their website, I create program and event materials, I advise them on marketing, fundraising, and social media. This organization’s mission is to lend support to the Sarasota County Historical Resources and manages the Historical Exhibits & Education Center located inside the historic Chidsey Library building.
Venice Heritage, Inc. (VHI) is a very active historic preservation and restoration group that supports the City of Venice Florida’s Historic Preservation Board, as well as the Venice Museum and Archives. Venice Heritage volunteers have raised more than $300,000 and invested thousands of hours restoring the Lord-Higel House to its original glory. Once completed, the first floor of the house will serve as an early settler museum and Venice welcome center.
A Chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society, Warm Mineral Springs/Little Salt Spring Archaeological Society (WMSLSSAS), is located in North Port, Florida, and promotes archaeology through scholarly speakers, field trips, newsletters, and public events. WMSLSSAS is interested in the cultural heritage and history of our state, country, and world. Their focus is on education and preservation, and they support professional research. They provide free public presentations on archaeology, history, paleontology, and related subjects.
The website, Tragedy & Survival of Gulfcoast Maroons, was built for Dr. Uzi Baram, Professor of Anthropology at New College of Florida, to feature a project of digital reconstructions of two historic locations; Prospect Bluff and Angola. The virtual reconstruction of these landscapes grows out of an expanding scholarship on the Maroons (“Black Seminoles” and self-emancipated people of African heritage) of Second Spanish Period Florida. Included are; project backgrounds and team members, historical timelines, videos, slideshows, and direct links to the virtual landscapes.
The Venice Book Fair is a unique annual spring Writers Festival, which features authors signing and selling their books in downtown Venice, Florida. There are numerous book and educational vendors, as well as food and drink. Attend a lecture or workshop to learn about the writing process from the professionals. For their website, I've created various registration forms, and will assist the committee with marketing the event.
Friends of the Venice Public Library, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization with a mission to enhance our community of Venice, Florida through its library. Soon, the new William H. Jervey, Jr. Venice Public Library will rise in the same location the original building once stood. I have created a brand new comprehensive website for this organization, including event registration forms with PayPal integration, post content, membership and volunteer information, and the important campaign information page. I have also been advising them on some aspects of their campaign fundraising.
Venice Museum & Archives (VMA) is the official repository for the City of Venice, Florida. Its mission is to collect and preserve historical and archaeological material relating to Venice and the communities of Nokomis, Laurel and Osprey, whose histories have all been interwoven from 1867 to the present time. The Venice Museum & Archives is housed in the charming, historical 1927 Triangle Inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Southwest Florida Archaeological Society (SWFAS) was founded in 1980 to provide a meeting place for people interested in the southwest Florida area's archaeology, history and cultural past. It is a chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society. The Society holds monthly meetings and attracts speakers who are in the forefront of archaeological research. Programs include presentation by local authors, professors, experts, notables in archaeology and related fields, exploring the marvelous history of Southwest Florida.
Lee Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the preservation of historic properties in Lee County, Florida, through: ACQUISITION, EDUCATION & ADVOCACY. I am in the process of redesigning their website. Click the image above to visit my sample site.
